Elements and Performance Criteria

  1. Prepare for airside operations
  2. Airside hazards are identified and appropriate risk management controls implemented
  3. Airside operating conditions and restrictions, and interim instructions are confirmed and applied to individual tasks
  4. Airside safety and operational briefings are received and acknowledged prior to operating around aircraft
  5. Operate around aircraft
  6. Airside access and aviation security procedures are applied
  7. Aircraft manoeuvring practices are confirmed
  8. Aircraft safety hazards and zones are confirmed
  9. Effective individual safety controls are implemented during operations within close proximity to aircraft
  10. Normal and emergency aircraft access and egress procedures are confirmed and applied during airside operations
  11. Appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication techniques are applied with flight crew and other ground personnel during routine and abnormal operations
  12. Implement aviation safety emergency procedures
  13. Individual emergency response actions are taken to preserve own safety
  14. Appropriate individual response actions are taken to assist other airside personnel during incidents or accidents
  15. Post-incident or accident procedures are clarified and applied, and their implementation is reported to relevant personnel
  16. Hazards identified are reported in accordance with workplace procedures
